Description

  Little Elks Child Development Center is seeking to hire a full time staff member. Previous child care experience is preferred. Love of young children is required.  Little Elks CDC motto is,” Follow the Golden Rule.”  We provide an environment that allows children to grow and develop in a nurturing and positive atmosphere.  

Candidates must:

  •       Be able to pass OSBI & FBI background checks.
  •       Be 18 or older.
  •       Provide proof of education, high school diploma, GED or higher education.
  •       Have a good work ethic and be a team player. 
  •       Obtain CPR and First Aid training.
  •       Complete OKDHS required training and orientation within the allotted time. 

Job description:

  Child care teachers and co-teachers are responsible for the day to day operations of the classroom they have been assigned. Teachers plan daily lessons and activities that are fun as well as educational.  Daily communication with each child’s parent is essential. The children’s health and safety are the first priority. Staff must maintain classroom ratio at all times. A career in child care is multifaceted; the ability to multi-task is a must.

       Additional duties include, but not limited to:

  •       Report suspected child abuse.
  •       Meet all OKDHS licensing requirements.
  •       Write daily reports for each child.
  •       Track developmental progress or delays.
  •       Plan curriculum and activities.  
  •       Attend required training and in-service.
  •       Assist with housekeeping.
  •       Serve snacks and lunch.
  •       Maintain confidentiality.
  •       Provide a nurturing environment.
  •       Give positive discipline and encouragement.
  •       Changing diapers, wiping noses and comforting heartbreaks…

Physical demands of child care staff include, but not limited to:

Must be able to…

  •       Get up and down from the floor. Play on the floor with the children.
  •       Move quickly to children that are in danger or have had an accident.
  •       Lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
  •       Bend or squat to lift a child from the floor.
  •       Walk with the children all the way around campus.
  •       Pull the wagon with at least 6 toddlers in it.
  •       Push the quad stroller with 4 children in it.
  •       Stand to change numerous diapers consecutively.
  •       Keep restrooms clean.
  •       Vacuum hallway and classrooms.
  •       Sweep and mop all hard floors.
